Spiritually Wake Up!

"Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit." - John 3:5-8

As Jesus was talking with Nicodemus under the cover of night, Nicodemus had asked Jesus, "How can a man be born when he is old?" and, "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!". Nicodemus was not spiritually awake.

As Jesus spoke with Nicodemus under the cover of night, the Pharisee’s questions revealed a heart that was curious yet spiritually asleep. He understood religion, but not regeneration. Nicodemus could recite the law, but he had not yet experienced the life that comes from the Spirit.

Jesus’ words cut through centuries of ritual and tradition: “You must be born again.” This wasn’t about physical birth, but spiritual transformation. The wind that moves unseen becomes the perfect picture of the Holy Spirit’s work: invisible, powerful, and life‑giving.

To be “born of water and the Spirit” means cleansing and renewal; washed from sin and filled with new life. It’s not something we achieve; it’s something God does within us.

The same invitation stands today. We can know Scripture, attend church, and still miss the miracle of the salvation promise. The Spirit moves where He wills, awakening hearts and drawing us into the Kingdom of God.

You need to ask yourself: Am I spiritually awake?

Do you know Jesus? Have you answered the call and prayed to accept Him? Here is a short prayer you can pray if you believe and are ready:

Lord, I believe in You, I am a sinner. I humbly ask You to forgive me of my sins. Have mercy on me, Lord. At this moment, I accept, confess, and proclaim Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior, to live in my heart forever. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, lived and walked this earth, was crucified, laid in the tomb, and three days later was resurrected. That He ascended to the right hand of God. Lord, please come into my heart and life. Change me, Lord.

I answered the call back in 1998 and have walked with the Lord ever since. It has not always been easy, but it has certainly been a growth experience and well worth it. Knowing Jesus as my personal savior has been a beautiful experience and fulfilling on so many levels.
